Documented since at least 1806, the Briton's Protection is associated with military recruiting and episodes in Manchester’s political history. Inside, a maze of small rooms, tiled corridors and etched glass windows survives from a 1930s refit. It also has one of the best whisky selections in the city, so this is a good place for a slower dram.
